A Typical Week: Friday

Hey loyal readers, I hope you're sticking with me, because TGIF!  Let me tell you why...

It's FRIIIIDAAAAYYY!!! - Anna Curl & Thomas Loyd

Friday

9:00am - 1:00pm Korean Language Class

Today it's Reading & Pronunciation followed by Listening & Speaking.

1:00pm - 6:30pm Freedom, sweet sweet freedom!

This time is usually used for FUN!  I've met friends, played ping-pong a couple times (once proudly beating some classmates from China, once getting schooled by a Korean pastor), taken naps, ridden a bike, watched TV, etc.  It's just free time, and at the beginning of the weekend, the pressure to prepared for all the activities we're involved in is lessened by temporal distance.

7:30pm - 9:00pm 태권도 (Taekwondo)!

A member of our church owns a Taekwondo place, and he has been generous enough to offer us free lessons!  We've been going every Friday and learning to kick and punch and block and move, but mostly getting our butts kicked into shape.  Yes, Andrew, you were right, there's good reason to be flexible.  As anyone who knows me well or has been to a yoga class with me knows, I don't bend forward so well.  It's kind of a problem.  But learning with kids less than half my age is always a riot, whether or not I can bend like them.  So far this is the main source of exercise for me here, so I cherish it, but I should try to do more.

Also, just this last week, we found out we all passed to become yellow belts!  This is one step above the beginning white belt.  We had a test a few weeks ago which we thought we failed miserably… until last week they pulled us aside and handed us our golden belts of Taekwondo glory.  YES!!!

*sniff* We're so proud to be yellow belts!

9:30pmish Firefly

Firefly Fridays!  I can't go without mentioning that we've been watching one episode of my favorite TV show in the world, Firefly, every Friday night.  Anna S. has seen it before, but Anna Curl has not!  If you've never heard of it or watched it, go do it!  Right now!  This post is over, what else do you have to do?!
